iPod Issues Fixed

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

If your iPod has been having problems playing recent Chilled episodes, please re-download the episode from my iTunes page. I have re-encoded episodes 70-77 in a more iPod-friendly format. If downloading the episode again doesn’t work, please contact me and I can fix it. Yay!

Chilled Episode 69

Friday, February 8th, 2008

Sixty. Nine.
Funny stuff.

Sorry to the many of you that have been waiting for me to publish new mixes! I’ve been busy with college applications.

We’re getting a little more eclectic for this episode.
Here’s my best try at including beautiful tracks from multiple genres and mixing them together.

Featured Artists: Murmansk, Burial (my favorite artist at the moment), Stick Figures, Ticklah & Victor Axelrod, Di Johnston, Songs Of Green Pheasant, and Mariee Sioux.

Taking A Break

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

I have to placed Chilled Podcast on hold for a while.
Classes, college applications, filling my photography portfolio, and sleeping are all using up my time for Chilled.

I’ll try my best to get more episodes out, maybe once a month. No promises.

But now you can catch up on all of the episodes you missed!

Podsafe

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

I would like to announce Chilled Podcast’s full utilization of podsafe music! That means everything you hear from now on (including the past three episodes) is completely legal to listen to!

Chilled Episode 40

Friday, April 27th, 2007

To celebrate episode 40, I’ve put all of my favorite ambient tracks together just for you. And remember, a link for each track is located in the album art window, so if you like what you hear, you can purchase it to support the artist.

Featured artists: Bent, Cujo, Prefuse 73, Jazzanova, Sasha, Boards of Canda (x3!), Daft Punk, Xela, Boom Bip (with a Boards of Canada remix), Susumu Yokota (x2!), and Brian Eno.

As a sidenote: thanks to Cubicle 17 for adding Chilled Podcast to the list!

New Hosting Plans

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

I would like to announce that Chilled Podcast and the rest of the ThinkPenguin network have moved over to a new hosting service to allow further expansion.

Here’s what’s going to happen:

  • 30-40 times the amount of bandwidth, meaning previous Chilled episodes will finally be available for download.
  • Chilled episodes will also be longer, now going for 25-30 minutes.
  • The ThinkPenguin portfolio entries will also be added, as I’m getting bored at staring at blank pages.
  • A donate button will be added to the Chilled site, so you can contribute a little monay if you appreciate the podcast.
  • Lastly, if you haven’t noticed by now, the themes on all of our ThinkPenguin sub-sites are unified - with the last of them being my blog, which took a while to think of but the backlit chocolate color theme will work for now.
  • If anyone’s interested, I chose DreamHost to host my site.

Hope you have fun and be sure to tell me what you think about the new design/podcast idea!

UPDATE: Sorry to everyone that couldn’t download the episodes from the RSS feed - this has been fixed!

Good News

Saturday, January 20th, 2007

A little while ago, I talked about my laptop being broken, causing a delay with the podcast’s schedule. It’s fixed now, and I’m glad to say that you should expect the next episode to be released a little sooner than usual, probably in the next couple of days. I’ve also been working all of the bugs out on this site, and everything seems to be running properly (for now). The archives function is up, so if you want to look at every post under the music category or the site news category, you can. Also added are the links in the sidebar for easier aggregation. If you are using iTunes to get my podcast, you’re fine. There’s also a link for digging the podcast, which I recommend everyone to do to show some appreciation!
As for music, I want everyone to know that I’m going to try to expand the variety the music selections a lot more, so you’ll have more artists to enjoy.

EDIT:
More good news for everyone:
I’ve done a little bit of digging around on my server,  and now when you want to listen to an episode form the links on the blog, it’ll automatically start downloading the episode from your browser. Have fun!

Let’s Talk Bandwidth

Friday, December 1st, 2006

Some of you might have noticed that Chilled Podcast was trimmed in the last few days. By “trimmed,” I mean that I’ve decided to only keep the past 5 episodes online, as the monthly bandwidth usage on my server has gone up a little too high. In fact, here’s a little history on the bandwidth usage of the podcast:

Jul: 158.69 MB
Aug: 956.93 MB
Sep: 604.48 MB
Oct: 7.86 GB
Nov: 25.27 GB <- My limit is 30GB, so I was close to being killed by my hosts, and that’s never good.

There’s quite an increase of listeners for my podcast. That’s great, and I love to see that some of you out there enjoying it! My hope for this little change (at least until I get a better hosting service) is that newcomers and long-time subscribers can download episodes and chill together in peace, all without making me have to pay overage costs for my bandwidth.

Here’s a haiku that I made to clairify the situation:

There will come a breeze,
and a tree will have to fall.
But the moss still grows

P.S.: I’m thinking about doing something special for Episode 20, so look forward to that!
