HP B&W LaserJet Pro Printer (TPE-HPLSR4001)

HP B&W LaserJet Pro Printer (TPE-HPLSR4001)
If you're looking for a solid and fast printer for GNU/Linux look no further than this high end HP black-and-white LaserJet printer. It features USB, wireless, and eithernet connectivity options. One of the nice features of this model unlike some of the budget HP models is it features an LCD screen. That means you get clear error messages when problems arise and aren't left guessing as to what the problem is.

One of the major benefits of this model over some of the less expensive printers on the market is the larger toner cartridges. With the larger HP 148X black LaserJet toner cartridge this printer supports users can print as many as ~9,500 pages before having to replace or refill the cartridge.

Another significant benefit of this model is the support for postscript. Postscript is an older technology that enables users to print from just about any operating system, distribution or release. This means even if you're on an older not-fully-supported distribution or release chances are you'll be able to print by manually running through the add printer wizard and selecting HP's postscript driver.
  • Easy to setup: no drivers to install for printing (includes support for postscript for older distributions)

  • Upgrade with ease- continued support & no need to reload drivers manually with each upgrade

  • Support for all popular and libre (free) Linux distributions

  • Not dependent on OS-loaded binary blobs or proprietary drivers

  • USB, Wireless, & Ethernet Built-in

  • 2 paper trays (standard)

  • Supports automatic 2-sided printing

  • Check out the video demonstration under GNU/Linux

Most distributions not listed above with a recent release are supported out of the box and will detect and configure the printer for use upon connection automatically. Most older releases will work with the printer via the postscript driver, but won't be automatically detected. Running the add printer wizard and manually selecting the appropriate post script driver is required for these releases. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.
