If you need to upgrade the kernel (improves support for some hardware) install the linux-generic-lts-raring-eol-upgrade package from the Ubuntu Software Center.
You may also want to install the virtualbox kernel module sources package for VirtualBox. Without these you won't be able to use VirtualBox after the newer kernel is installed.
