Careful what you buy- Not all Blu-ray drives are the same! Many can't burn Blu-ray discs and others that can have sketchy support for playing Blu-ray media, but not the Penguin Ultra Slim USB Blu-ray / DVD Writer. Our portable Blu-ray Writer can both play Blu-ray media and features support for burning Blu-ray discs, DVDs, and CDs.
Unlike many "new" optical drives on the market we utilize premium components to ensure reliable performance and longevity. This drive works great for anyone looking to add an inexpensive easy-to-use backup solution to their computer or for playing Blu-ray video discs.
For those interested in Blu-ray for entertainment our USB Blu-ray writer also utilizes the coveted LG BU40N SATA drive and a SATA to USB chip that ensures maximum compatibility with the flashing of third party firmwares. This when combined with third party firmware ensures it's possible to playback most Blu-ray media on the market today. The flashing of third party firmware is both possible, but also easier than with a handful of other drives on the market where this is also possible. This is because there is no locking or encrypted firmware.
Looking for a low cost backup solution? With Blu-ray write speeds of up to 6x and discs capable of storing 100GB it's hard to go wrong. Discs are available in 25GB, 50GB, and 100GB capacities. The drive is also compatible with many popular burning applications for GNU / Linux such as K3B and media / video players such as VLC.

Do you have a need for speed? This USB-C SD card reader supports the latest and greatest SD standard: SDXC. The SD Express bus was released in June 2018 with SD specification 7.0. It uses a single PCIe lane to provide full-duplex 985 MB/s transfer speeds similar to NVME M.2 SSD cards in modern laptops. While SDXC is never going to be quite as reliable for some tasks such as OS boot devices by comparison to larger devices like 2.5" SSD drives and M.2 NVME SSD cards this will none-the-less introduce a great performance boost for tasks that involve sequential reads and writes such as for video, photography, and music.

Fedora is a distribution geared at the desktop and backed by Redhat (acquired by IBM in 2019).
